Comptoir des vadrouilles
Bunker - agde

On-site museum

The landscape of La Tamarissière was marked by the presence of bunkers as part of the Mur de la Méditerranée defences. The Agde 39-45 Association has restored Bunker 638 and opens it to visitors every Saturday morning from 9.30am to midday (free entry).

Originally used as a sick bay, this nine-roomed construction has exhibits of medical and military objects, as well as relics of everyday life for the Germans and citizens of Agde at the time. Historical re-enactments take place twice a year, and show the effort and care taken by these passionate restorers to preserve this piece of our history.

Pedal your way round!

Want to escape everyday life?

Did you know that the Canal du Midi reaches the Mediterranean at Agde? Walking or cycling along the canal is an easy way to get a breath of fresh air, which is sure to do you the world of good.

Enjoy a wonderful stroll under the trees, watching the barges as they pass.

Where the Fonserane locks meets the Etang de Thau, you can see Agde’s unusual round lock. There are only two round locks in the whole of France. They are built not two but three gates, allowing boats to swing round and chose their destination: The Etang de Thau towards Béziers, or the Hérault for the Mediterranean. 300m from the round lock is the Villa Laurens, which is currently undergoing renovation. This art nouveau gem houses a wealth of stained glass, wall paintings, mosaics and furniture.
