A festival of maritime traditions bringing together historic sailing ships, galleons and vintage vessels in the port of Sète, Hérault, every two years. Hosted by 400 volunteers and supported by Unesco, this biennial event attracted over 440,000 visitors and generated over 21 million euros in economic spin-offs during one of its previous editions in 2022, making the Languedoc region proud.

Escale à Sète is much more than a simple gathering of ships; it’s a true immersion in the maritime world, combining history, tradition and innovation along the quayside, for sea enthusiasts and the curious alike.
Beyond the boats, Escale à Sète offers a range of exciting activities to entertain visitors of all ages. From seamanship demonstrations to open-air concerts and art exhibitions inspired by the sea, there’s something for everyone. Tastings of local gastronomic specialities add an extra flavour to the event, offering visitors the opportunity to revel in the delights of Mediterranean cuisine.
More than 130 heritage ships are expected in the port of Sète, including historic sailing ships, galleons, vessels and faithful replicas. Visitors will have the opportunity to admire these maritime gems from the quayside, and even climb aboard to visit them and chat with crews from all over the world. Shows, meetings and fun workshops are also planned for a complete immersion in Mediterranean maritime traditions.
To entertain visitors, 50 maritime music and song groups from all over the world will be present, adding a vibrant musical atmosphere to the event while perpetuating maritime traditions and culture. In addition, over 1,000 free workshops, suitable for all ages, will be on offer to pass on maritime knowledge and techniques, covering a diverse range of subjects from traditional shipbuilding to seamanship and seafood cooking.
Gastronomy will also be in the spotlight with the ‘Escale Assiette’ culinary space. Located in the heart of Les Halles sétoises, this space will bring together 50 ephemeral restaurants and exhibitors to offer a unique taste experience. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover and savor the delights of the sea, as well as traditional recipes inspired by local fisheries, thus sublimating maritime flavors.
