What is the Green Key label?

For the 2nd year running, the eco-chic La Tamarissière campsite has been awarded the demanding Green Key Label. The news was made official on January 22. It’s a source of pride shared by all the teams at the campsite, who work daily to promote more sustainable tourism. Camping La Tamarissière, in the Hérault region of France, is one of 1,564 establishments recognized for their eco-responsible approach in France.

HOW IS THE CLEF VERTE LABEL AWARDED TO TOURISM ESTABLISHMENTS?

The Green Key label is awarded to tourism establishments on the basis of strict, rigorous criteria. In the interests of fairness and reliability, these criteria (Green Key) are determined at international level by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). They are reviewed every 4 years, to keep pace with environmental issues and technological advances. Some sixty Mandatory Criteria form the basis of the label: they must be met by all schools wishing to receive the label. The Recommended Criteria, on the other hand, make it easier to obtain the label by demonstrating the establishment’s strong commitment to continuous improvement from both an environmental and a societal point of view.

The criteria are divided into 7 main categories:

  • Environmental policy: general environmental management, employee training, social responsibility…
  • Environmental awareness: information for guests, nature activities, display of eco-gestures
  • Water management: resource management and sanitation, tap capacities, watering

Campsite La Tamarissière’s eco-friendly initiatives

Campsite La Tamarissière, located in the Hérault department, has been awarded this prestigious certification for the second consecutive year, for 2024. This certification recognizes our commitment to sustainable development, through concrete eco-friendly actions carried out on a daily basis, such as:

  • The choice of accommodation produced in France, benefiting from more environmentally-friendly construction and insulation rules.
  • Improved energy management with a more energy-efficient lighting system (LED, timer, motion and twilight detectors, etc.). All of this, reinforced by an awareness-raising campaign aimed at our guests and staff on the sensible use of air-conditioning. And regular monitoring of consumption to ensure optimization.
  • In a region where drought is becoming increasingly prevalent, careful water management is essential: no watering on the campsite, installation of flow-reducing aerators, changes to communal sanitary facilities…
